Honeywell and Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. have announced an expanded collaboration to develop innovative artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled solutions tailored for the energy sector. This partnership aims to integrate Qualcomm Technologies’ connectivity and AI capabilities into Honeywell’s existing portfolio, aligning with major industry trends such as automation, digital transformation, and the rise of industrial IoT.
Expanding AI-Powered Applications in the Energy Sector
The collaboration will see Honeywell enhance its AI-powered Field Process Knowledge System (PKS) by incorporating Qualcomm Technologies’ advanced AI and connectivity features. Honeywell’s Field PKS will be able to provide greater connectivity in remote areas of plant and manufacturing facilities, enabling improved data capture and analytics at the edge. This development will facilitate smarter, more efficient operations for organizations in the energy and industrial sectors.
Qualcomm Technologies’ portfolio of low-power AI-enabled processors with native wireless connectivity, computer vision, and software will be combined with Honeywell’s broad range of sensing technologies. The result will be a family of industrial sensors capable of monitoring a variety of parameters, including process, asset, and environmental conditions. These advanced sensors will allow field and service technicians to receive more actionable information, speeding up decision-making, enhancing accuracy, and delivering interactive insights.

Future Developments and Applications
Earlier in 2024, Honeywell and Qualcomm Technologies began collaborating on an AI-enabled Multi-Modal Intelligent Agent designed to allow workers in distribution centers and retail industries to interact naturally with handheld devices using voice, images, and video. By 2025, Honeywell plans to incorporate computer vision capabilities from this Multi-Modal Intelligent Agent into its Field PKS system.
